Bourbon Country

Thought this sign was a good way to start off the pictures. Bar in Bardstown Kentucky.

At the Heaven Hills Distillery. That one in the box I think is about $1000. And those bottles with blue wax are older than I am.
Outside at the Heaven Hills Distillery. Those are the rack houses in the background covered with black mold.
Next stop was the Maker's Mark Distillery. Looked more like Santa's workshop if Santa had started moonshining.

Fermentation vats full of fresh yeast and corn mash.

I wasn't so serious when I asked out loud if I could put my arm in the vat. The tour guide was serious though. This vat was almost done and warm ... kind of taste like grape nuts, little chunky, kind of sour.
If you find some arm hairs in your bourbon about 8 years from now I apologize, but I'm not sorry.
Sean's idea of smiling for the camera.
If you are a Maker's Mark Ambassador then one of those casks might be yours. Just ignore Sean looking real creepy with the camera.
Walked through a rotten wood door from the rack house into this fake looking, commercialized tasting room, which sold every souvenir you could imagine.

Got all excited driving by this abandoned church with adjacent graveyard on our way back to Bardstown. Had to take some pictures. There were two kids playing basketball in their backyard just out of frame on the left. I don't think I'd be okay with playing near a graveyard everyday.
Really, I could shoot for the next Urban Outfitter catalog.
Taking some polaroids.
If you are not able to read the sign it says "Father Maloney's Boys Haven". I'll leave my comments at that.
Back in Louisville, KY.
Awesome lounge to hang out and sip bourbon.
This was on the same street as the Maker's Mark Lounge. Whole area looked like Vegas with the lights and oversized signs hanging off of every building.

Some things really are bigger in Texas.

First time in Austin.
These dudes are everywhere in downtown Austin. Fun to watch them race each other up hills.
Longhorns played Baylor while I was there. Longhorn fans are hardcore, but very nice too.
Lyndon Baines Johnson library on UT campus. I highly recommend you check it out if you are there and have a few free hours.
Inside the LBJ museum. Real creepy statues. Check out those bow ties though. Someone should bring back the bow tie with a regular suit. Not me though.

Just me or does this whole setup come off as just a little homoerotic? I just think they might have arranged everything a little different.
Fourth floor of the LBJ museum. Lots to see.
This is on the way out of the LBJ museum. The eyes of all them ... I felt real judged standing in front of this painting.
Turtle Pond on the UT campus.
I agree. And by that logic I must be learning all the time.
In case you can't read the small type ... it says "made with real poo". Yes paper made from elephant poo.
The administration building tower on UT's campus.
Fountain on the edge of campus. Looking back at the tower.

Two weeks plus in Austin staying at a Holiday Express, working knee deep in actual poo. Had to stock up on the essentials right?

They are aren't they? Paper cuts, dropping a big one on your toe.
What an awesome campus.
Not sure how a rabbit who's clearly murdering carrots while his carrot buddies stand by and watch is going to make me want to stop eating delicious animals.
Capital building way way way in the background.
Back in Phoenix. Those tails remind of an ATT commercial.
Dramatic isn't it?
Back to Seattle.

The Windy City Indeed

Hello Chicago.
I counted six Starbucks on my long walk through O'Hare terminal. I don't know if Boise even has that many. Period.

Never been to Chicago before. Got a job and they sent me straight there for a week. This was the view from the hotel room.
And this was right in front of the hotel. Michigan Avenue bridge.
Gotta be an interesting place to work. I'd wear floaties to work.
My favorite from Chicago.
Has to be tough to paint though with all the mortar in between the bricks.
Really fancy 7-Elevens in there.
i-Pod advertisement. Saw more of these than I saw Starbucks ... weird.
One of my other favorites from Chicago.
Like this one too.
Go here. Get coffee.
The whole reason I went to Chicago. WEFTEC 2008. McCormick Place is huge. I couldn't stop looking up to the high ceiling when I walked through this hall.

Next year is in Orlando. Fingers crossed I end up there.
Waiting for the train. Wish I could ride them more.
Carbide and Carbon Building.
If you get the chance, get a greasy chessbuga at this place. Located under Michigan Avenue. You might need to ask how to find it. Cash only.
Hey look at that ... kind of feel like buying an i-Pod now.
Front window to the Apple Store. Who would have guessed. I kind of did.
Not sure what's going on with this mannequin...but good news there's a sale.
Michigan Avenue bridge at night.
And the Chicago River at night.
Cool purple light on top of the Wrigley Building.
Someone left an apple for this guy.
Thank GOD someone finally figured out a way for me to buy more crap I don't need without having to interrupt my text messaging schedule.
Spike Lee does not look too happy to be selling me a phone. Not happy at all.
Back at O'Hare. Good bye Chicago.
