Chasing That Sunset

Brought my tripod all the way to Austin with me this time. Missed that awesome Texas sunset the first try. I found this intersection though.

And these lonely rocks near the intersection.
Second try and I just missed it again. But the moments after sunset were almost as good. Maybe even better.

Overlooking Lake Travis.
Again on Lake Travis. The small shots don't give the colors justice.

Bigger version if you'd like.

Getting Out of Seattle for Christmas.

This is a long one. Too much went on in the end of December to spend anytime uploading photos.

So here it is, finally, Christmas events galore, some festive drinking, my birthday (number 23) along with some less festive drinking, Sun Valley to bring in the New Year with friends and of course a lot of drinking and childish behavior, and finally Mark's birthday (don't worry there was plenty of drinking).

Christmas eve morning brunch.

Seductive mimosas?
What is something you replace, starts with F... Friends.
This is what I looked forward to after Christmas dinner. Back to Seattle.
I came back though a few days later. Can't drink on your birthday without friends right?
Riding around in the Z on my birthday.
Classy birthday drinking in a hotel room with battling flashes.
Group shot #1... sort of.
Group shot #2.
Obligatory stooping to not make me look so short birthday photo. Thanks Sean.
And finally birthday karate chop. Thanks again Sean.
Up to Sun Valley to await the new year.
All beer should be served in a 32 oz. "Schooner". Yes a boat of beer. They also serve Schooners of wine coolers if you prefer.

The Sawtooth Club in downtown Sun Valley.
This one looks worse than it is. She's was not actually offended by something Ryan said.

Hurray! 2009!
Back home in Boise. Swimming time.
He wears the helmet for his safety.
Putting little Sean's coat on so he won't catch his death.
Internet.
We really are much cooler than this.
You will have to take my word on that.
Tough breakfast decisions. They're a big deal.

Bourbon Country

Thought this sign was a good way to start off the pictures. Bar in Bardstown Kentucky.

At the Heaven Hills Distillery. That one in the box I think is about $1000. And those bottles with blue wax are older than I am.
Outside at the Heaven Hills Distillery. Those are the rack houses in the background covered with black mold.
Next stop was the Maker's Mark Distillery. Looked more like Santa's workshop if Santa had started moonshining.

Fermentation vats full of fresh yeast and corn mash.

I wasn't so serious when I asked out loud if I could put my arm in the vat. The tour guide was serious though. This vat was almost done and warm ... kind of taste like grape nuts, little chunky, kind of sour.
If you find some arm hairs in your bourbon about 8 years from now I apologize, but I'm not sorry.
Sean's idea of smiling for the camera.
If you are a Maker's Mark Ambassador then one of those casks might be yours. Just ignore Sean looking real creepy with the camera.
Walked through a rotten wood door from the rack house into this fake looking, commercialized tasting room, which sold every souvenir you could imagine.

Got all excited driving by this abandoned church with adjacent graveyard on our way back to Bardstown. Had to take some pictures. There were two kids playing basketball in their backyard just out of frame on the left. I don't think I'd be okay with playing near a graveyard everyday.
Really, I could shoot for the next Urban Outfitter catalog.
Taking some polaroids.
If you are not able to read the sign it says "Father Maloney's Boys Haven". I'll leave my comments at that.
Back in Louisville, KY.
Awesome lounge to hang out and sip bourbon.
This was on the same street as the Maker's Mark Lounge. Whole area looked like Vegas with the lights and oversized signs hanging off of every building.
